Hilby the Skinny German Juggle Boy
A very popular international street performer from Berlin, Hilby is an expert in juggling all sorts of objects and subjects as well as countless circus and variety skills (such as unicycling, rope-walking, unsupported ladder, manipulating fire, balancing stunts), all with a German twist. Performances will be held on Friday, December 14, at 12:00 pm, 3 pm, & 8 pm at the Outdoor Stage. Saturday, December 15 performances will be held at 11:15 am, 2pm, and 6:30 pm at the Outdoor Stage. Alpine Zither Player performs German Christmas music on this traditional stringed instrument with origins from Germany, Austria and Hungary: Bill Kolb, PhD, also known as Dr. Zither, was the featured performer recently in Washington, D.C. at the inauguration of the National German-American Heritage Museum for the German Ambassador to the United States and other VIPs. He also plays in German restaurants in the NJ, NY area. He is one of the founding members of the North America Zither Orchestra. Friday, Dec. 14 at 11:30 am & 2 pm at the Lutheran Church sanctuary. Traditional Bavarian dances dating to the 14th century: This dance group from Lancaster performs traditional folk dances of the Bavarian Tyrol area. They are dressed in typical German costumes and the dances have remained unchanged for over 200 years. Schuhplattler or shoe-slapping dances, are a series of courtship dances between couples, in which the man pursues the woman in order to waltz with her. It is explained to the audience, and viewed with great interest. Saturday, Dec. 15 at 1pm and 4pm, Outdoor Stage.
Children's Lantern Parade
Forms Friday, Dec. 15, at 5pm at the UCC Church. Mifflinburg Elem. 2nd Graders parade through the Market carrying lanterns and singing the traditional German Lantern Carol “Laterne”.
Internationally known guitarist/singer/composer, KJ will return to her hometown to perform for our audiences. Friday, Dec. 14 at 7 pm, Herr Memorial Library Community Room, upstairs. Please use elevator.
Magician Brent Kessler
A nationally known magician, he combines light-hearted humor seamlessly blended with mind-boggling magic. Thursday, Dec. 13 at 7pm in the UCC Church, Downstairs and Friday, Dec. 14 at 2 pm at the Outdoor Stage. For more information visit Brent's website.
Puppetry Pastimes has a beautiful puppet/marionette show wagon which they bring to the Christkindl Market for performances. They also have a store at the Market for puppets, marionettes and accessories. Shows are Thursday, Dec. 13 at 5:30 and 7:30pm; Friday, Dec. 14 at 12pm, 4pm, and 7:30pm; Saturday, Dec. 15 at 12pm, 2pm, 4:30pm, and 6pm at Kinder World.
Alyssa N. Ronco, Soprano
A native of Mifflinburg, Alyssa holds her Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and her Master of Music Degree from Manhattan School of Music. Ms. Ronco has performed all over the United States, Canada and in Italy including performances with the Susquehanna Valley Chorale, New Jersey Opera, Oberlin in Italy, Educational outreach in NYC public schools and Carnegie Hall. Ms. Ronco is an avid educator of students of all ages and abilities and maintains her private voice studio, Cadenza Voice Studio in Mifflinburg. Her students have participated in district, regional and state competitions, have been NATS competition winners and been accepted to some of the most prestigious music programs and summer music programs in addition to beginning there own professional careers.
Bryan Herber, Pianist
Bryan is a talented professional pianist from the Harrisburg area. He will be performing holiday selections in the Lutheran Church, Saturday, Dec. 15, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm in the Lutheran Church.
Pleasant Valley International Dancers
This dance group, ranging from 12 to 20 persons, performs throughout the year and in collaboration with Susquehanna University and will demonstrate folk dances of various countries Victorian dances. At Christkindl they perform "Christmas Around the World" representing 20 different countries. They give brief information on the dances performed. Each year they change their programs so the audience is exposed to a variety of different dances, making the performances not only entertaining but also educational. They use folk costumes and custom-made period costumes from around the world. The “Christmas Around the World” performance is at 12 pm. Their second performance at 2 pm will feature dances appropriate for a Victorian Christmas.
This brass band, playing traditional German & Austrian songs, has been a part of the Christkindl Market for 28 years. They entertain Market guests on Saturday afternoon in two separate sessions. Dressed in German Lederhosen, the band plays German and Austrian music including lively polkas and waltzes and German Christmas music. The 20-person band is very popular and often visitors dance on the street to their music performed on our outdoor stage. Saturday, Dec. 15, 3pm and 5pm at the Outdoor Stage.
Holiday for Organ
Matthew Wagner, Organist and Choir Director at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Shamokin Dam, and retired Mifflinburg HS Band Director, will give a concert of Christmas organ music on Friday, Dec. 15 at 8 pm at the Lutheran Church.
